Ken was not asleep and could see the aurora borealis so he thought I’d like to know. It was a pretty good show spread out across the horizon from due north to the northeast.

We needed to get up early to start a short trip so the alarm was set for 4:30 am. I rolled over to shut it off and out my bedroom window, I could see the aurora borealis making one huge pillar! I had no extra time for making photos but I did a few anyway and ate a nut bar for breakfast in the car. We arrived at our destination just in time.

I received a notification that there might be northern lights/aurora borealis last night so was ready to stay out late in cool fall evening. Well, maybe I should have worn shoes instead of sandals because it was a stunning show – the best I’ve ever seen – and I was out later than I planned and my feet were freezing when I finally came inside. There may be more tonight. I will wear shoes.
