People ask me what was special about the Grand Tetons and I say mountains and moose. The mountains rise out of the flats with an abruptness that is hard to imagine. Of course, I’ve seen many photos of them over the years but it was something to see them in person. And the moose. I saw seven on our last morning there. I wish we’d had more time to explore the park. All the campgrounds and most of the visitor services were already shut down because it was October. And yet, there were many people visiting. We stayed in a small Forest Service campground outside the park.
