The feeders have been busy recently. Lots of California Quail, Red-winged Blackbirds, House Finches and Dark-eyed Juncos. Today there were three Spotted Towhees which are not common in winter here. Black-capped Chickadees come by occasionally. Woodpeckers too – Hairy, Downy, Pileated and Northern Flickers. And the occasional Cooper’s Hawk. Plus the view from our house on a sunny winter morning.

Fun times at your place Teri! I was with Wendy Sims today. We both have feeders and suet out and have very little action. I’ve seen 2 chickadees, one Stellar’s Jay and a couple of flickers. Not a single finch. I’m worried. I hope our birds have simply found better ‘pickens’ elsewhere. Thanks for the photos!
Hi Pat – there are certainly fewer birds around this year. At first, I thought it was because of the mild weather but now that it’s cold, I don’t see an increase in birds, especially away from the feeders.
