This is the mom. Notice the cryptic coloring on her back and how it mimics the licens on the rocks around her. In the winter she will be pure white to blend in with the snow.

We walked in the hills above the Methow with our dogs and friends from near and far one day last week. We saw the early Buttercups – the first wildflowers of the year for me – and explored an abandoned house.
