Yes, I am behind on my personal photos. And it’s not like I’ve been making very many lately. Here are a few highlights from our annual visit to the Salish Sea.

Five of us and our dogs had another nice outing on Lopez Island. The weather was perfect for strolling along the bluff and clambering on rocks to watch the sea life. We like to watch the seals like visitors to our valley like to watch the deer.

The gulls are watching a seal eat a salmon in hopes of getting a few bites.
Back at camp, Kim and Mary and I enjoyed a before dinner paddle
Some stuff from the beach. The blue jellyfish-like creatures are Velella velella, also know as by-the-wind sailors. Sometimes they get caught up in off-shore winds and end up on the beaches, dying and leaving a slippery and if it’s warm enough, stinky mess. Fortunately for us, it was not warm when we were there. You can read about them here. The first time I saw them, there were one or two here and there and by the time I left the beach, vast swaths of sand were covered with them.
