Before we went to Malheur NWR, the girls and I spent a week in the California desert, next to the mighty Sierra Mountains, at the foot of Mount Whitney. The weather was often unsettled, presenting beautiful clouds and distant rain.

Yellowstone is an amazing place to visit. So much to see. And I didn’t even get to half of it.

The last two months have been dominated by gray skies. Whenever the sun makes an appearance, it seems like we should take notice. Here are a few spots of sunshine at the end of the afternoon, yesterday. I couldn’t decide between color or black and white.

Both The Winthrop Gallery and the Confluence Gallery hung new shows this week and I have new work in each show.
At The Winthrop Gallery, the theme is Methow Wonderland. I brought in two pieces showing Alpenglow on mountains that I can see from my house. One of my favorite things is to watch the sunlight spread over the snow-covered mountains as I have my coffee in the morning. Today is overcast so that won’t happen.
The Winthrop Gallery is open from 10:00 til 5:00 Thursday through Monday.
At The Confluence Gallery in Twisp, Caryl Campbell curated a show titled Weathering Change. I had this in mind while I was traveling through Utah in November.
The Confluence is open Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 til 5:00, and on Saturday from 10:00 til 3:00. There will be a reception tomorrow, Saturday the 12th from 5:00 til 7:00 pm.
Sky and I went to an agility event last weekend and had a chance to stay with friends of a friend who live on a bluff overlooking part of the Salish Sea. It was really very nice of them to take us in. Their little beach is 149 steps down from the their yard and we didn’t mind the walk at all. Sky was excited to smell the saltwater and chew on salty pieces of driftwood. It was pretty chilly so I didn’t throw anything into the water for her to chase. We enjoyed sunset and sunrise colors over the rugged Olympic Mountains. It was a good way to wind down in the evening and to wake up in the morning.
Don’t even ask about our agility results.
