Yesterday was a gray day, very typical of what we’ve experienced this winter. Lots of gray days and not much snow. Here are some scenes from our walk, mostly shades of gray with little color. And perhaps, a cougar kill.

Winter came early this year. We were lucky to get a hike the day before the snow happened. It was mostly gray and overcast but occasionally the sun gave us a little warmth and then there would be a snow flurry too.

These hills are now covered with one to two feet of snow and we need skis or snowshoes to get around.

Oh yeah, I still think those little ground squirrels are just the cutest.

We have had a bit of snow here. Enough that people are worried about the weight of it on their roofs. So far, it is mostly light and fluffy and doesn’t weigh too much and our house has a pretty stout roof so we are not worrying about it. Yet.

So far, we have had very little snow but it is in the forecast. The girls and I enjoyed a walk in the hills yesterday. Going at Luna’s pace allowed me plenty of time to enjoy the multitude of shapes and colors surrounding the two track where we walked. Many of these plants are weeds and certainly all are past prime (as my friend Diane would say) but they still showcase Nature’s amazing diversity of life and death.

Sky got a stick.
