Last week, Sky and I enjoyed a pleasant morning walk in the rain. It’s not like it rained hard but I did put on my rain jacket. I hardly ever do that. The spring greens were beautiful and everything smelled so fresh. Sky’s favorite part was jumping in the water.

I think they are tired of winter already. Luna’s klunkr slips if it is too icy. Sky cut her toe last weekend and also has a persistent ear infection. We can only walk where it is plowed or really packed down. Today we walked down the road instead of up the road and that was mildly more entertaining for them.

So far, we have had very little snow but it is in the forecast. The girls and I enjoyed a walk in the hills yesterday. Going at Luna’s pace allowed me plenty of time to enjoy the multitude of shapes and colors surrounding the two track where we walked. Many of these plants are weeds and certainly all are past prime (as my friend Diane would say) but they still showcase Nature’s amazing diversity of life and death.

Sky got a stick.

Yesterday was just lovely! Blue skies, new snow, sparkles everywhere. New snow makes the world seem fresh again.

December was generally gray with some snowfall. We really need a lot more snow especially after the New Year’s Eve rain, freezing rain and yesterday’s spring-like conditions. The forecast is showing some snow this weekend. Fingers crossed.

The girls and I had some nice walks in the hills last month and judging by these photos you can figure out (as if you didn’t know already) that two of my favorite subjects are dogs and trees. Maybe that’s why Sky likes sticks so much. Another thing I like is a spot of color on a gray day. Especially red. Even without much snow or sunshine, we enjoy our walks in the hills around the valley.
