Lots to see in this community. This little natural area is right on the outskirts of town and a worthwhile walk anytime of year.

I took my camera for a walk about in Twisp yesterday. Here are a few things that I saw. The flowering trees are lovely right now. The dachshund was across the street and when he saw me, he put on his purposeful look and marched across the pavement, sniffed me once, and turned and walked back. I guess I passed muster.

The 4th of July in Twisp is always a fun day. First, there is the parade and immediately following that, there is the Arts Fest in the park sponsored by Methow Arts. Both are fun, family friendly events. The parade featured horses, search and rescue folks, firefighters, librarians, fire trucks, political candidates, candy and lots more.

Photos of Arts Fest can be seen here.

I’ve been working with a student at the Independent Learning Center (ILC) in Twisp this fall. He showed interest in photography early in the quarter and his teachers asked if I’d mentor him as he pursued this interest. We have spent time talking about photography, going on photo walks and working on the computer – learning about photo processing. I have little experience with teaching so it’s a learning experience for both of us. He is an eager learner, ready to pursue new topics and also a good listener. It’s been fun.

The ILC is located on the TwispWorks campus. We visited some of the studios on the campus and walked around the adjoining neighborhood and to the park at the confluence of the Twisp and Methow River. Hopefully soon we will have snow-covered backdrops to explore.

Looking through the photos from our walks, I miss the colors of fall. Especially on this foggy dark November day.

Twisp has a terrific Fourth of July Parade! No doubt about it. It celebrates lots of stuff that folks around her love – horses, dogs, firefighters, EMT’s, kids doing fun stuff, our local non profits, and even the 30th anniversary of a first date. It’s all so positive!

Methow Arts Fest happens right after the parade. For Arts Fest photos, see my gallery on Facebook. Hopefully that link takes you to a public gallery on Facebook.
