Up until yesterday we’ve had wonderful snow days mixed with bluebird days for most of the winter. Monday was a perfect bluebird day! Powder snow covering the hills above our house, blue skies forever and a temperature that wasn’t too cold. Wonderful conditions for ski shoeing with my fat Hok skis.

Sky and I went to an agility trial near Auburn over the weekend. It was sponsored by the Extreme Agility Team (EAT) and held at Argus Ranch for Dogs. Sky and I are a work in progress, still learning how to communicate and get through courses cleanly and quickly. Sky has a strong drive to do agility. however my skills are lacking to keep up with her speed and she often has to turn to me and say ‘what do you want me to do now? I don’t understand you.’ However, when it comes together, we can do very well.

Agility trials are lots of fun. Well, they are lots of fun if you like dogs.

Here is our Tunnels run. We did have a clean run that was fast enough to qualify, came in first and earned our Open title in Tunnels with this. However, to compete at the next, Elite level, we will have to eliminate the indecision and spinning in the middle of the run. We have to be faster.

The puppy Molly continues to look for guidance from Luna and Sky. Luna is particularly patient with the youngster while Sky worries that Molly might be just trying to get her sticks. Molly the puppy will soon be Mollydog but for now she is Mollywog, all wiggly and squirmy and full of puppy energy. And maybe I should just call this the Mollyblog!

Everyone celebrates Christmas a little differently. Our dogs are always a big part of Christmas Day. And skiing too. We skied on our new Hok skis around our hill after breakfast and then we picked up Mary and Molly and went to Big Valley for some classic skiing while Don stayed home and fixed Christmas dinner for all of us! It was a good day!

Honestly, I have no idea where the time goes. I finally just let go of November images. November was mostly warmish and very wet. And December has been cold and dry. Seems like every other day we get an inch or two of fluffy powder snow that can be swept rather than shoveled from the porch. Quite different from the heavy wet snow that fell last year early in the winter. I have gotten used to the cold and if the temperature gets up to freezing, it seems warm, almost balmy! Skate and classic skiing has been excellent on the Methow Trails! Morning walks have been beautifully illuminated with wondrous light.
