The girls and I enjoyed a short, slow walk in the woods last week. Luna has missed her outings and was so happy to be on a trail again. She sniffed all the sniffs, saw all the sights and drank deeply from the river. Her attitude is good despite injury and old age.

The girls.

Rozie and Ginger came to see us this past weekend! Ginger is the youngest redhead, just a little over a year old and she rarely sits still. Well, Rozie is three and she is pretty active herself. These two are part of the Good Girls’ Club and Sky and Luna were glad to see them, except when it came to sharing the couch. The redheads blend in perfectly with fall colors.

October went from fall to winter and back to fall. The girls and I got out on various walks, in various weather. It was all good.

We started with a walk up at the pass so the girls could play in the snow. Of course, Sky found a tennis ball. A dirty, partially rotten tennis ball. She was so proud. Another day we went to Big Valley right after a rain squall. The colors were magnified by the moisture. Shortly after that we went back to Big Valley after the first real snowfall in the valley. And salmon were spawning in the river this month. Circle of life.

The dogs have been enjoying the weather recently. Nights are very cold and in the morning the snow is firm enough to support their weight. Mine too. Daytime temperatures are well into the forties so all in all, it’s a lovely time to be out and about!
