Just an Everyday Dog Walk

My husband has decided to tell everyone that I’m a crazy dog lady and I have a bunch of friends that are also crazy dog ladies. Hmmm. Do you think that’s because I make so many of my images are of dogs? He does say it with a smile and he isn’t really complaining; at least not that I can tell. I think he’s just jealous that I get to spend so much time with these dogs.

Here are some images from today’s foggy dog walk.

This is the sunflower that grew out of the gravel in front of our garage. It is still standing. The finches have gotten most of the seeds from it.

Black Dogs in the Snow

What kind of photo situation is the most difficult? I am always challenged with photographing my black dogs and today to make it worse, it was snowing this morning, the light was flat and there was more than half a foot of new snow. But how much fun is this? These dogs like snow and they know how to have fun. It looks like they are fighting and trying to hurt each at times but they never do. Well, when Sky was younger and had her puppy teeth, she did make Luna’s ears bleed more than once. Speaking of Sky, she is now over six months old and weighs more than 50 pounds! How big will she get? Luna is 65 pounds and she has lots of long curly hair. She needs a haircut soon. I know, this is a lot of images of black dogs in the snow but we like dogs.

Aspen Lake Walk

Mary Ann and Frida, Christiane and Luna and I walked to Aspen Lake yesterday. It was a perfect Spring day with sunshine and lots of wildflowers. It was warm enough to shed our coats at long last! Frida and Luna were happy to jump in the lake and chase sticks and then romp in a lingering snow bank. They chased chipmunks too. It was a good day to be dog. And the rest of us had a nice time too.

Walks and Wildflowers

Spring happened while we were gone. The hills are green and tiny wildflowers are in full bloom. Some of the bigger flowers have started blooming too. Luna and I try get out at least once everyday for a walk although some days, like today, it’s not as pleasant and certainly with the high winds it’s not a good day for photographs. Here are a few from the last week or so.

This is a new flower for me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before.

Dave Sabold says “Arabis holboellii – but NOT the flowers! The flowers come later on a stalk, and they’re white in color, not yellow. A fungus produces the yellow color, and the fungus even puts out a sweet smell. Maybe the fungus attracts insects to distribute the spores?”
